Arriving

June 25, 1943

Could things get any worse? We were on our private plane, a plane with about 40 kids in total. Everyone kind of nervous, when suddenly the plane started to shake violently. War zone, I thought immediately. As the plane was shaking you could hear the whines of the younger children, and the hard breathing of the older kids. I held on into the seat as hard as I could praying that we wouldn't land on water territories, and that nothing bad would happen to anyone. Once the shaking ended, it was coming down… It felt as the longest roller coaster descent in the world with interminable tickles in my stomach. I had never screamed so much in my life.

When it crashed into the trees there were several minutes of silent shock, everyone testing to see if the were still alive. Then, someone opened the exit doors and everyone wanted to get out. The big kids stepped over the little ones, and the nimble little kids bat the legs of the kids that wanted to go over them. I was only staring at this scenario full of ruckus, because I felt like I couldn't stand up. I felt everything rotating around me, and I felt so dizzy that I saw everything double. When I saw that everyone was out, I managed to take off the seat belt, and stand up without throwing up… I jumped out of the plane and landed on broken branches with bright green leaves. I looked around me, and I just couldn't believe it. In front of me there was a enormous forest with trees, bushes, and mountains, to the right I saw the beach with the deep blue sea crashing on the sand, on my left I saw the huge paradise island all for ourselves, and behind me was the crashed plane. How could this happen to a group of school boys? Were we the only ones on this island?

I decided that it was best for me to look for the choir so that we could be together rather than being there by myself….

In the distance I spotted them, I ran as fast as I could to catch them. Out of breath I tried my best to follow their rhythm, we were looking for some one with a trumpet. So we walked to the sound over the bumpy floor, until we got to two boys: a chubby one with glasses, and another one tall and straight that with even with his kind of dirty uniform looked sophisticated. Far from me, I heard Jack --the capitan of the choir-- talk to them. The sun burned our heads, and little sweat drops fell down my neck. I was feeling dizzy again, I couldn't resist anymore; I felt my legs numb up…. I sat up against the palm trunk as soon as I realeased I had fainted, and smiled to the tall boy who had asked my name. He seemed nice, I liked him. His name was Ralph --which by vote, he became chief. He looked as if he had his leader skills, I liked him. He chose me and Jack to do an expedition and explore around. I couldn't help but giggle, I felt proud.

So the three of us jumped down the platform and walked along the sand past the bathing pool, and started our walking. There were a few times where I had to double shuffle to catch them, but I was alright. After we started walking I noticed that the fat kid from the beginning was behind us, I found out that his name was Piggy, but I think he didn't like it because he was complaining to Ralph about he telling us.

We walked around and around, toward the other end. We were really amazed, we were discovering this new piece of land by ourselves. Then, about when the sun was setting, we tried catching a pig because we were hungry but we weren't fast enough…
